The impressive Church of the Resurrection in St Petersburg
An architectural masterpiece, the Church of the Resurrection is also known as the Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood.
Building of the church began is 1883 and was completed in 1907. It was built on the spot that Alexander II was assassinated
in 1881. A Tsar of great reforms in Russia he had survived many attempts on his life until a group of revolutionaries threw a bomb
at his royal carriage. The church was closed in the 1930s as part of Bolshevik aggression against religion. It was finally re-opened
in 1997 in all its splendour.
